Apple and Hazelnut Drop Scones

RECIPE NAME: APPLE AND HAZELNUT DROP SCONES

Ingredients:

  • Chopped hazelnuts of 3 tbsp
  • Flour of 1 cup
  • baking soda of 1/2 tsp
  • salt always as per taste
  • sugar of 2 tbsp
  • 1 egg
  • buttermilk of 1 1/4 cups
  • 1 finely chopped apple
  • Cooking spray according to requirement
  • maple syrup of 4 tbsp

Directions:

  • If you do not want to buy the buttermilk, then you can make the same at home. Take 1 cup of skim milk of 250 ml and 15 ml lemon juice and keep it for about five minutes.
  • In the form of pectin, apples are the best for soluble fibre. Eating apples are good for skin and teeth and reduce gum disease.
  • Take a non stick skillet and place it over medium heat. Now, you need to toast the hazelnut until it is golden brown and sweet fragrant will come out. You need to toss and stir constantly. Then, keep the toasted nuts in small bowl and keep aside.
  • Take a mixing bowl and add flour, salt, baking soda and sugar and sift them. Then, make a well in the bowl and add all the dry ingredients. Slightly beat the egg with the buttermilk and slowly pour in the well. Then, gently stir the mixture of flour with the buttermilk mixture and make a smooth yet thick batter. Then fold the hazelnut and apple.
  • After that you need to coat the large skillet with the cooking spray and then heat on medium flame. Take a scone and take one tablespoon of batter on the hot surface. When you observe the bubble on the above surface of the scone, then you can use the spatula and turn them. You need to cook till it become golden brown and for about 1 minute you need to cook it.
  • Then remove the scones that are cooked after that quickly heat the maple syrup in a saucepan and warm it. Then, drizzle the maple syrup on the drop scones and you can serve them immediately.
